Rawlings is a Chapter of the Air Force Association (AFA), which is an independent, nonprofit, organization. AFA publishes Air Force Magazine. It built and maintains the United States Air Force Memorial in Washington, DC. It promotes civilian education and understanding of the importance of aerospace power and its pivotal role in the security of our nation. AFA promotes education in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM.) It recognizes excellence in the education and aerospace fields through national awards programs.
In support of the mission of AFA, the Rawlings Chapter is active in community charitable giving. Rawlings supports scholarships and grants to Air Force active duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve members and their families. Rawlings supports Twin Cities ROTC and JROTC programs. It provides educator materials and sponsors performance awards to promote science and math education at regional elementary and secondary schools.Rawlings chapter is named in honor of General Edward W Rawlings, an outstanding AFA member and local community leader. We are the largest of two chapters in Minnesota. Our membership is drawn from central to southern MN. Our members are both military and civilian; active duty and retired. They represent the aerospace industry, businesses, schools and the community at large. Members of the Rawlings Chapter of AFA serve on committees, run special events, mentor new volunteers and students for future Air Force, AFA and community leadership.
Each year Rawlings Chapter sponsors an annual Awards Dinner, with a prominent speaker, to honor the excellence of local airmen and airwomen. We also sponsor delegates to the Air Force Association National Convention and Aerospace Symposium in Washington, DC to help choose a new national leadership team for the following year.
We invite you to become a member of AFA. Click the JOIN tab at top to join us as we work to develop new leaders and to support local Air Force and aerospace related activities.
